Earlier this month saw the launch of "Towards AI Literacy: 101+ Creative and Critical Practices, Perspectives, and Purposes." It features an incredible collection of ideas and practices on AI/GenAI from a diverse range of individuals in education who share their perspectives and experiences on AI literacy and resources from 22 countries.

According to the international team: “the collection contributes to the wider discussions around AI while also fostering collaboration and partnership between educators and students in co-designing learning, teaching, and assessment that help us all grow as responsible citizens of this world” (Sandra Abegglen, Chrissi Nerantzi, Antonio Martínez-Arboleda, Marianna Karatsiori, Javiera Atenas, and Chris Rowell).

What I appreciate most is not just the variety of contributions but also its collaborative, crowdsourced nature, published and tagged under #creativeHE. I enjoy the way the higher education community leads in these approaches. I hope that in the future there will be more integrated thinking and sharing of practices across primary, secondary, and tertiary education.

Written below is a collection of my favourite quotes from the stories, grouped by six different categories:

  1. Defining GenAI literacy

  2. The role of GenAI literacy in education

  3. Practical applications and programmes

  4. Ethical considerations and challenges

  5. Critical perspectives on GenAI literacy

  6. Integration and future directions

I enjoyed reading the reflections and perspectives, especially coinciding with a previous post I had written on defining and teaching AI literacy. I hope these are helpful for shaping and sharing your work.
